Health & Wellness Fair - August 22, 2025

We invite you to join us for the Health and Wellness Fair presented by the Oakmont Community Foundation on Friday, August 22nd. This event will be a great experience for everyone attending.

Dr. Raj Kalra will give a talk at 1:30 PM during the fair and also provide information about Aroha Memory Care, opening soon in Santa Rosa, California!

The Health and Wellness Fair on August 22 offers Oakmonters an opportunity to browse a variety of diverse resource tables and check out new entries in the technology sector aimed specifically at seniors.

The event, presented by the Oakmont Community Foundation, starts at 9 a.m. in the Berger. Blood pressure and glucose screening will be available in Providence’s Mobile Clinic, located in the parking lot area outside the Berger. Inside, resource tables will include materials from agencies ranging from American Heart Association, Alzheimer’s, Cancer, Legal Aid and Council on Aging, to name a few.

Kaiser will provide assistance with understanding and executing advance directive documents and forms and also have a notary public on hand to help people in filling out forms. Aroha Memory Care, slated to open in Oakmont later this year, will have a resource table, with Dr. Raj Kalra on hand to answer questions about memory care, disease prevention and lifestyle. Dr. Nisha Kalra, DDS, will have materials and guidance on senior oral care.

Training on auto external defibrillators (AED), which are in located on walls in several Oakmont buildings, will be conducted in the morning, as well as balance classes with Mary Hastings, an Oakmont fitness instructor.

In the area of new technologies, OCF has also engaged developers of Jubilee TV, a new device that supports senior independence by allowing family members to connect through a smart phone app. Audien Hearing, inventors of the first FDA-cleared over-the-counter hearing aid to be sold, will showcase their line of hearing aids, which will available to see at the Fair.

A Speakers Series, representing major Sonoma County medical providers, starts at 11 a.m. with the following schedule: 11 a.m.—Parimala Selvan, MD, Kaiser, on Reframing Aging; Noon—Raj Sangara, MD, Providence, on Cardiac Therapies; 12:45 p.m.—Jaime Fletcher Smith RN, Sutter Stroke Prevention Clinic; 1:30 p.m.—Raj Kalra, MD, Aroha Memory Care, on From Pills to Prevention: Taking Charge of Your Health Naturally; 2:15 p.m.—Maggie Barber, Attorney on Elder Abuse Prevention; 3 p.m.—Chris Ryan, PT, DPT, EMBA, CSCS, After Care Strategies for joint replacement, surgery and stroke.

Raffle prizes include an Apple Watch, Audien hearing aids, walking poles, gift cards and complimentary professional care visits, a round of golf for four and dinner for two. Lunch will be provided by OVA.
